BarTag FAQ

Quick answers before you open a round.

BarTag is simple on purpose. Still, a few things are worth knowing before you tag someone in.

What is BarTag?

BarTag is a real-world social game. You open a round with your drink, location, and proof photo, then tag someone in. They have 24 hours to accept. Once they submit proof, they can tag someone else in or end the round.

What is a round?

A round is the shared game. One person opens it by tagging a friend. Each player who joins can tag someone else in, keeping the round going, or end it whenever they’re ready.

What does it mean to tag someone in?

Tagging someone in means you are inviting them to join the round. They get your link, see what you are up to, and decide whether to accept.

Do I need an account?

No. You can open, accept, and close rounds without an account. Signing in lets you save your history, see your dashboard, and reuse recent people, places, and drinks.

Does the person I tag need an account?

No. They can open the link, accept the tag, and submit proof as a guest.

Do I need someone’s phone or email to tag them?

No. You can tag someone by name or nickname. If you have their phone or email, BarTag can help you reuse it later, but it is not required.

Are rounds public?

No. Rounds are private by default and shared by link. If you choose to send someone the link, they can view the round. Future sharing tools may let players share completed rounds, but BarTag is not a public feed.

What counts as proof?

A proof photo should show your drink, your hand, your face, or something that makes the moment yours. It does not need to be perfect. It just needs to feel real.

Do I have to drink alcohol?

No. BarTag is built around bars, friends, and spontaneous nights out, but your drink can be anything: beer, coffee, soda, mocktail, tea, water, or whatever fits the moment.

What happens if a round expires?

The round closes as expired. Nobody gets shamed. Life happens. Open another round and try again.

Can I tag someone back?

Yes—but not immediately in the same round. To keep rounds growing, you can’t extend a round by tagging the person who just tagged you. Instead, tag someone new. A previous player can always rejoin later, and you can always open a brand-new round to tag someone back.

How many people can join a round?

As many as your group keeps inviting. Every new player has 24 hours to accept, and every completed tag keeps the round alive. The round ends when someone chooses to end it or no active tags remain.

Can I play from anywhere?

Yes. BarTag works anywhere you can grab a drink, take a photo, and send someone a link.
